Product Overview

A trammel net is a layered commercial fishing net constructed with one inner netting wall between two outer netting walls. It may also be described as a three wall fishing net, 3 layer fishing net or trammel fishing net. The inner and outer layers have different functions within the completed structure, so buyers must define both rather than request one general mesh size.

FishingNetPro supports specification-led trammel net supply for importers, distributors and wholesale fishing gear programs. Material, layer construction, dimensions and finishing are confirmed from the buyer's RFQ, drawing or approved sample. Buyers comparing a trammel net with a conventional gill net should state whether they need netting panels or a finished rigged product, because ropes, floats and sinkers are separate requirements.

A complete quotation also identifies how the three layers are assembled, measured and packed. The product name alone does not define the ratio between inner and outer netting, the required rigging or a regional market standard. These details remain buyer-specified and are reviewed before production.

3-Layer Structure

Inner Netting Layer

The inner wall is specified separately by material, mesh size, diameter or yarn construction, depth, length, knot and color. It should not be inferred from the outer layer specification.

Two Outer Netting Layers

The outer walls form the surrounding layers of the trammel construction. Buyers should provide their mesh, material and line or yarn details together with the intended assembly format.

A three-layer structure can use different mesh sizes and netting constructions across the inner and outer walls. The correct combination should be copied from an established specification, technical drawing or approved sample when possible. Do not assume that one common ratio or layer arrangement applies to every market.

For material comparison, review the nylon fishing netting category, nylon monofilament netting and nylon multifilament netting. Buyers performing local rigging can also source semi-finished nylon netting under a separately confirmed specification.

Specifications

The ranges below reflect current website product data. They are reference parameters rather than a promise that every material, mesh and construction can be combined in one product. For a trammel net, the inner and outer layer fields should be listed separately.

Applications

Commercial Fishing Supply

  • Buyer-specified commercial fishing programs
  • Replacement of established trammel net designs
  • Regional fishing gear distribution

Wholesale Buyer Programs

  • Importer and distributor catalog supply
  • OEM and private-label projects
  • Netting for local assembly and rigging

Application alone is not enough to select a specification. Buyers remain responsible for confirming the appropriate product design, permitted mesh size and local fishing regulations for the intended market. FishingNetPro does not assign one fixed mesh or layer construction to a country, species or fishing method without buyer confirmation.

Custom Production

Custom production begins with the material and construction of all three layers. The current reference materials are PA6, PA66 and PE. Mesh size can be reviewed within 3/8 to 10 inches, depth within 10 to 1000 MD and length within 25 to 1000 meters. The buyer should state the measurement method used for every mesh value.

SK or DK knot construction, LWSF or DWSF stretching, SSTB or DSTB selvage, and white, black, green or yellow color can be reviewed from the complete specification. These codes should be written in full on the order confirmation where terminology may differ between markets. Color and packing are also confirmed before production.

For an OEM trammel net project, list each layer and quantity as a separate line in the RFQ. If several mesh combinations or colors are required, show the quantity for each variant. The reference MOQ is 500 KG, but the applicable minimum and mixed-specification feasibility depend on the confirmed production requirements.

When a repeat order must match an approved product, keep one controlled specification for quotation, sampling, production and inspection. Any change to an inner or outer layer should be recorded as a revised specification instead of being communicated only as an informal note.

Buyer Guide

Layer Specification

  • Inner wall material, mesh and line or yarn size
  • Outer wall material, mesh and line or yarn size
  • Layer depth, length and assembly details
  • Knot, stretching, selvage and color

Commercial Specification

  • Finished or semi-finished product format
  • Rope, float and sinker requirements if applicable
  • Quantity for every specification
  • Packing, labels and destination

The Fishing Net Mesh Size Guide explains why mesh value and measurement method must be stated together. When matching an existing three-layer fishing net, send close-up photographs, the original label, a dimensioned drawing or a physical sample. Photos help identify construction but should not be used to guess exact line diameter or mesh measurements.

A useful RFQ records the inner layer first, then both outer layers, followed by finished dimensions and rigging. Mark uncertain fields clearly rather than filling them with assumed values. Send the available information through the contact and RFQ form for specification review.

FAQ

What is a trammel net?

A trammel net is a three-wall fishing net made with an inner netting layer positioned between two outer netting layers. The complete product must be specified by material, the mesh and construction of each layer, depth, length, knot, stretching, selvage and any final rigging requirements.

What is the difference between a trammel net and a gill net?

A trammel net uses three netting layers, while a conventional gill net is normally specified as a single netting wall with its required rigging. Buyers should identify the exact structure rather than use the two product names interchangeably.

Can the inner and outer mesh sizes be customized?

Yes, the inner and outer layer specifications can be reviewed from buyer requirements. List each layer separately, including mesh size, measurement method, line or yarn construction, and color where applicable.

Which materials can be used for trammel net production?

The current reference materials are PA6, PA66 and PE. Material should be confirmed for each layer together with diameter or denier-and-ply construction. Final combinations remain subject to production review.

What is the MOQ for wholesale trammel nets?

The current reference MOQ is 500 KG. The applicable minimum depends on layer construction, material, mesh combinations, dimensions, color, packing and the number of separate specifications in the order.

What information should I send for a trammel net quotation?

Send the material, inner and outer mesh specifications, diameter or denier and ply for each layer, depth, length, knot, stretching, selvage, color, required format, quantity and packing. Include a drawing, label or sample reference when matching an existing net.
